O5 Farms

O5 Farms is a family farm at Jefferson, growing blueberries without harmful pesticides or chemicals on ground that has been in the same family for six generations. The house the family lives in was built by the present owner's grandparents, whose cattle and gardening between them are the reason the farm looks the way it does.

What You Can Pick

Blueberries, naturally grown, sun up to sun down, seven days a week, through June and July. No appointment, no booking, no set hours.

It runs on the honour system. The farm sets out the whole procedure and it takes about a minute to learn:

• Grab a clean bucket and line it with one of the bags provided
• Choose only the bluest berries
• Fill the bucket until level with the top
• Pull the bag out, tie it up, and put the bucket in the "used" bin
• Pay on your way out

Buckets and bags are provided, so there is nothing to bring. Pay cash into the black lock box, or by PayPal, Venmo or Cash App using the QR codes on site.

What Else is Available

There is a proper menagerie, and several of them have names:

• Danny the alpaca and Pretty Bird the peacock
• Cows, goats, mini pot-bellied pigs, donkeys and rabbits
• Chickens, roosters, guineas and geese

The farm also runs a daisy field photo venue, a rustic retreat for people wanting a quiet night out of the city, and events through the year. Those are booked; the blueberry picking is not.

Good to Know

O5 is in the Georgia Farm Bureau Passport scheme. Take yours for a stamp, or ask and they will start you one.

Pro tip: sun up to sun down means you can pick at seven in the morning in a Georgia July, which is the difference between a pleasure and an ordeal. Almost no other farm in this region gives you that choice.
