B.J. Reece Orchards at Ellijay runs the longest continuous apple picking in the region. The 2026 season opens on August 29 and then runs seven days a week right through September and October.
Apples. The orchard is candid about a thing most are not: "There are more varieties of apples available in the market than available to pick yourself." If you came for one variety in particular, ring first.
Two charges, and you need both. An admission package per person, and a bag to pick into:
Children two and under are free. There is no advance booking and no discount on u-pick. Cards carry a 3 per cent surcharge.
Tickets are bought at the gate on arrival. The farm states plainly: "You do not need to purchase tickets in advance...You do not need to make a reservation." The last u-pick ticket goes at 5pm, an hour before closing.
Pro tip: this is the accessible choice among the Ellijay orchards. It is the only one that says so on its own website.
We list what we have confirmed. If something you need is not shown, it is worth calling the farm to check.
Our own assessment, scored the same way for every farm on the site, from what each farm publishes about itself. Not a visit, and not a public review score.
