Klenk Orchards on 10 Mile Road at Sparta picks sweet cherries in the middle of the Fruit Ridge, and runs tractor rides out to the trees, which matters on a cherry farm where the good fruit is rarely near the car park.
Sweet cherries, from June 24. Pre-picked fruit is sold alongside the picking.
Two sorts: Rainier, the pale yellow-and-red ones, and the dark varieties. Rainiers are sweeter, bruise more easily and cost more in a shop, which makes picking them yourself the sensible way to get them.
Open 8am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 5pm Sunday. Seven in the evening is late for a cherry orchard and the best hour to be in one.
The farm publishes no price. Ring 616-887-9631 if you need to know before you go.
Pro tip: cherry season is three weeks and it is the first fruit of the year here. If you only make one picking trip to the Ridge, late June is a better one than October.
We list what we have confirmed. If something you need is not shown, it is worth calling the farm to check.
Our own assessment, scored the same way for every farm on the site, from what each farm publishes about itself. Not a visit, and not a public review score.
