Mountain Creek Farm on Laton Road at Albemarle was planted in 2009 as a pick-your-own and nothing else, and it now carries more than 1,200 bushes across eight varieties, which is why its season runs from late May all the way into August.
Blueberries, from late May into August.
Some pre-picked pints and quarts, in limited amounts.
Open 8am to 7pm, which is an eleven-hour day and the longest in this region. But the farm has no website, publishes no price, and is straightforward that the picking is limited on some days. Ring 704-791-3183 before driving out.
Pro tip: eight varieties is the reason to come here rather than to a bigger patch. Blueberry varieties ripen weeks apart and taste noticeably different, and a farm with eight of them is picking something good from May to August rather than for one good fortnight.
We list what we have confirmed. If something you need is not shown, it is worth calling the farm to check.
Our own assessment, scored the same way for every farm on the site, from what each farm publishes about itself. Not a visit, and not a public review score.
Long days through the season. The farm asks you to ring first because the picking is limited some days.
